New York Giants Win The Super Bowl!!

Monday, February 4th, 2008

OMG my friends. the Giants BEAT the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl!! How could that possibly happen? lol

In my last post, I told you it could happen. I didn’t say it WILL happen.

Let me start this way, hats off to the New England Patriots for their FANTASTIC season. That my friends was a one of a kind accomplishment. MAN, what they did was unbelievable. To RIP off 18 wins in the NFL is just something astounding! There is NOTHING to be said against that type of feat!!

The New York Giants on the other hand, not even supposed to make the playoffs, had a different TYPE of season in their own right! From 0 and 2 to winning the Super Bowl! So how did this happen?

Defense, Defense, Defense…All along I have spoken about the New York Giants defense. Well, they showed up once again when it counted! The defense pressured Tom Brady into errant passes. They sacked him 5 times and did nothing but make him erratic.

THAT my friends is what I said needed to happen. It did and the Giants won!

A little about the game itself. Why did the Patriots not kick the field goal when they had the chance? That COULD have changed the whole complextion of the game. Neither here nor there at this point. Just a question.

HOW did Eli Manning get away from the defenders when he should have been sacked? HOW did David Tyree hold on to the ball that landed on his head? Divine intervention? I believe so. Everything worked just right for it not to have been.

From 0 and 2 to winning the Super Bowl. Oh, and don’t forget their home record of 3 and 5. You tell me how GOD did not have anything to do with this.

I’M signing off for now and awaiting next season. If you leave a response, I WILL reply.

GO GIANTS!! XLII Champs!

Giants and Patriots Super Bowl!

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

If you asked me in February, I NEVER would have included the Giants! Hell, if you asked me in December, I would have said, “NO WAY are the Giants getting there!”.

Here we are going into February and the Giants are playing the Patriots in the Super Bowl! Who would have thunk?

Here are my thoughts on the game. Right or wrong, good or bad, I would like your feedback on this.

The Giants should have beat the Patriots in the last game of the season. They had EVERY chance to win and just didn’t do it for what ever reason. The Patriots are favored by 12 points which is WAAAAAY too many! In fact, I believe the Giants defense will rattle Tom Brady so much, the Giants WILL WIN this game! Don’t believe me, look at week 17 again!

That’s it for me until the game. If nothing else, we will watch one of the best games the Super Bowl has had in a LOOOOONG time!

GO GIANTS!!!

Giants are Bowl Bound!

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

YUP! You read that right. The Giants are going to Arizona for the Super Bowl! New York Giants against New England Patriots!

You probably are asking yourself the same question as me, “How did THAT happen?” The only possible answer is Eli Manning. Since the game against the Patriots, Eli has played lights out! No interceptions, over 100 passer rating. Hell, he even played great in the coldest weather he will most likely ever see! So much for the under 50 degree theory.

Plaxico Buress had a great game against the Packers. Catching balls all over the field…Taunting the Packers bench…Doing what Plax does best…Intimidating and WINNING! (Still can’t believe the Steelers let him leave!)

So how did the Giants beat the Packers? They BELIEVED they could. The defense did not sack Farve once. But, they put pressure on him all night long. That is not how the Giants won.

The Giants won…are you ready…because of the offense! You read that right. The offense won this game. Eli Manning moved the offense down the field with a good mixture of passes and runs. When Brandon Jacobs was not as effective as he normally is, in came Ahmad Bradshaw. Between the two of them, they ate up chunks of yardage and the all important clock. Toss in a little Plaxico Buress, Amani Toomer, and Steven Smith and your game is complete.

Yea I was upset about the 2 Lawrence Tynes missed field goals, but he came through in the end when he had to. I have to admit I had my “Shoot Lawrence Tynes” (figurative) t-shirt out and ready to don. That 47 yarder to win the game erased those thoughts!

On to Arizona and the New England Patriots. What are your thoughts on the bowl and who could win? Early line has the Patriots at 15-1. I believe otherwise after watching the Giants last game of the season against the Patriots. Time will tell.

Hell, the Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys, I’m good with everything from that point on!

Please leave your comments about this or any other post.

The Giants are IN!

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Hey everyone. I have kept my mouth shut for the last few weeks since every time I say something the Giants lose!
Now, with the Gints in the NFC final round, I can’t shut up any more! Why? The Giants have done the one thing I never expected!
They won the NFC East and are playing for the Super Bowl.

Did you, in your wildest expectations, think the Giants would make it this far? I know I didn’t!

This is how I look at it. The Giants beat the Cowgirls….Cowboys when it counted. I don’t know about you, but I live to see the Giants win against the Cowboys. If the Giants only win 2 games a year, it HAS to be against the Cowboys!!

Anyway, let’s get into it a little more. The Genisis of the New York Giants! Where did you notice it? When did it happen? What made them a TEAM?

Personally, I look at the New England game. Eli seemed to become of age in that game. He began making decisions and executing plays. That my friends was the turning point of Eli Manning and the New York Giants!

Let’s get a little deeper in the TEAM! The defensive backs have sucked for a long time. If you watch the Giants like I do, you know that. Have you noticed something different in the last few games? BLANKET coverage? BIG name receivers unable to get open? CRUCIAL blocked passes?

These things are WHY the Giants have begun winning. Oh…don’t forget they are road warriors! That is another topic for later.

What about the running game? Brandon Jacobs, Derek Ward, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Reuben Droughns. Did I forget anyone? These guys have done a fab job of taking the pressure off of Eli. Gain yardage, Eli doesn’t need to throw as much. Simple formula!

Now we head into Wisconsin. Green Bay and Lameaugh field on a VERY COLD Sunday evening. How will Eli react? What about the defense? Time will tell my friends.

This is the last thing I have to say before the game. If the Giants lose, they have already gone farther than I ever expected! Should they come away with a win, GOD BLESS YOU BRETT FAVRE! You will be one of my heroes forever! Play again or not!

Go GIANTS! Go ELI! Go Michael and company! Go Brandon and Ahmad! GO TEAM! Win one for the Gipper! Oh, sorry…wrong team! ;-) Got carried away.

Talk soon, please leave your comments. I REALLY need to hear them!

Giants vs Vikings

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Holy Cow Batman! That was the worse game I think I EVER saw the Giants play! Forget about the San Fran game and others! This WAS THE WORSE! Eli Manning looked like a deer-in-the-headlights! The only thing he could see was the RUSH! Ummm, I think receivers would have been better. Oh…wearing the same jerseys! This is what Eli Manning looked like after the first TD drive;
Eli Manning against the Vikings
Now, I thought after the first touchdown by Minnesota and the Giants drove down field and scored, something was going to be good. NOT! Let me add this up a second…4 interseptions tossed by Mr. Happy Feet, 3 for touchdowns, that makes um….21 to make up!

Final score was 41-17 Vikings. Subtract the 4 idiotic passes and it becomes 20-17 Vikings. That says that the Giants did not win this game in any way, shape, or form. I already knew that by watching the game. Forget about the 10 points scored by the Vikings offense. That doesn’t count in a game like this. It only proves that the Giants defense played fairly well. Not good mind you, just OK! You gotta see Eli Manning again;
Eli Manning against the Vikings

I LOVE that picture! Ok, so now we go to Chicago and play the Bears. Not a good thing after this week. Especially if you saw the Bears come back and win on Sunday. Those guys are no push over and will not give in against the all mighty Giants!

Back to the Viking game. Here is what I say. The receivers were NEVER in sinc with Eli. Their backs were always turned or they were not in the correct postion to catch the ball. No, I do not blame that on the receivers at all. I put the blame on Eli Manning since he was getting rid of the ball before the intended target finished his route. Give kudos to the Vikings defense for putting the pressure on Eli. As much as I hate to say it, the Vikings game-plan was almost PERFECT!

What did this game prove? The Giants are not READY-FOR-PRIME-TIME players. Plain and simple. They tease us yet again and allow us to think they can be winners when in fact they are simply pretenders! Win enough to keep you interested and not go all the way.

Something NEEDS to change next week against the Chicago Bears. This is a team to be reckoned with. It’s TIME to put up or shutup and stop pretending. Go for the jugular or don’t bother playing. I am tired of 3 and out and NEVER STOPPING third and long.

Stop playing to win and losing, start playing to DEFEAT an start winning again!

My dander has me flaming right now so it’s time to quit this little rant. I will be back after the Chicago game with more on this discertation!

Giants vs Lions

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

The Giants rolled into Motor City with the hope of winning. While they did come away with a win, the game was butt-ugly! WHY? If you watched the game you say ALL the chances to put this game away early! Fumble after another GREAT return by Ahmad Bradshaw. Interception when they were about to score! VERY ugly if you ask me.

Once again the Giants defense came up HUGE! Michael Strahan was on a sack rampage. He had 3 and there could have been more except for the fact that Kitna could scramble.

So a win is a win. 7 and 3 is GREAT! I would have signed up for that after an 0-2 start! What did we get out of it as Giant fans? We lost an up-and-coming defensive player in Mathias Kiwanuka. This guy has finally got it. He knows his roll and positiion on the defense. Rushing the QB when playing line backer and creating havoc when on the line as another defensive end.

We lost Brandon Jacobs. This man was on his way to a carreer year! He is not Tiki Barber or David Meggett for that matter. What Brandon Jacobs has shown is he IS an every down back. This man can plow through defenders as well as get around the corner for big gains. Boy do I hope his hamstring is not severe. The good part is that Derek Ward is ready to return…maybe. Another all-around back with speed and agility. If only the 3 headed monster could get back on the field together….sigh!

Ahmad Bradshaw has shown a ton with his ability on kick returns. Could we be looking at the future of the 4 headed monster? I guess that would be pushing it a little since nobody would ever get enough carries! ;-)

OK, the Giants are 7-3 and getting ready for the Minnesota Vikings. With continued hard play and Eli Manning with his new found decision making, the Giants could be 8-3 after this comming week. The Jets play the Cowgirls….Cowboys on Thanksgiving day. Should the Jets play a complete game as they did Sunday, that will knock Dallas back a knotch! They NEED IT!

I am going to prepare myself for a WHOLE LOT OF TURKEY and NO HUMBLE PIE for desert! GOD BLESS everyone and have a safe, healthy, and thankful Thanksgiving!

Giants vs Dallas Revisited

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

SIGH! What can I say about the game. Everything looked good during the first half. Dallas made tons of mistakes in the form of penalties which added to the Giants ability to score. Just look at the first half. Dallas had multiple personal fouls which gave the Giants an extra 15 yards. That stupid taunting penalty right before the half allowed the Giants to tie the game with a field goal.

Second half was much different…Dallas scores and kick off to the Giants. Bradshaw has a runback to the 2 yard line. WHOOPS, holding and the play is called back! THAT sucked! But it’s not over! A TD run by Reuben Droughns called back by a holding penalty. Not enough? How about another hold followed by another delay of game?

I have to tell you that my heart is not into this review right now. I do not like the Dallas Cowboys, nor do I think they are as good as their record! Tony Romo is not the next coming of Roger Staubach!

I will reluctantly admit that the Dallas Cowboys are a better team than the New York Giants. Tony Romo, although not Roger Staubach, has done a fantastic job with the team. 8-1 speaks for itself.

Where is the defensive backs on those throws to Terell Owens? OH…I forgot…They were looking at the wrong assignment! Bitten by the bite they got in the first game!

YUP, I will pick on the rookie mistakes just as Tom Coughlin did. They were NOT in the correct position to make the plays which needed to be made.

My temper is flaring right now and I feel it is time to shut myself up! I’ll be back before the Detroit game to add a little more. Right now…The Giants suck! Nothing else to say! A performance like they showed against the TOP OF THE LINE was horrible at the very least!

OK! I’ll shut up now! Be back soon with more on this debacle!

Giants vs Miami

Monday, October 29th, 2007

The struggle across the Atlantic was HUGE…and UGLY! The New York Giants came away with a win over the Miami Dolphins. Somehow…

Eli Manning had the worst day ever completing only a handful of passes. 8 to be exact and 59 yards. Not a very good air show. The ground works were much better with a total of 189 rushing yards. The only touchdown scored by the Giants was on a 10 yarder by Eli Manning. The rest of the yardage was used up by the “2/3 headed monster” of Brandon Jacobs, Reuben Droughns. and even Jeremy Shockey!

It was all Giants early on. After the Giants kick off to start the game, the Dolphins move the ball downfield to the Giants 29 yard line and stall. Jay Feely misses a 48 yard field goal wide right. Yes, THAT Jay Feely who was so good for the Giants. From there the Giants took over the game.

The Giants take control and move the ball the other way for 4 minutes 47 seconds. Lawerence Tynes kicks a 20 yarder to put the Giants up for good. The Giants defense comes up big near the end of the first quarter with Gibril Wilson recovering a fumble thus allowing the offense back on the field. The Giants are unable to get a first down and have to punt…

With 1:09 left in the first half and the Giants at Miami’s 10 yard line, Eli Manning looks for Jeremy Shockey who is covered and runs to the left corner for the Giants only touchdown. Miami gets the ball on the ensuing kickoff. After 2 completions by Cleo Lemon for 12 yards and a first down, Giants defense comes up with another big play. Michael Strahan strips the ball from Cleo Lemon, picks up the fumble and rumbles for 4 yards. 2 incompletions by Eli Manning and an 11 yard run by Brandon Jacobs, Lawerence Tynes connects from 41 yards out. With no time after the kick off, the Dolphins enter their locker room down 13-0.

The second half was pretty much boring until the end of the third quarter. With 1:07 left in the quarter, Jay Feely connects from 29 yards to put Miami on the score-board. Now it’s the Giants turn once more. The move the ball from their own 35 to the Dolphin’s 11 yard line. Lawerence Tynes misses from 29 yards out wide left. My first thoughts were “Here we go!”

Sure enough…Miami is forced to punt after a 3 and out caused by the Giants only sack of the day. Fred Robbins sacks Cleo Lemon for an 11 yard loss. Miami punts, Giants ball with first and ten at their own 41. Very good field position is what I’m thinking now.

3 runs by Brandon Jacobs for 25 yards and 2 first downs in Miami territory at the 34 marker is even better. Here it comes……HOLDING, OFFENSE, 10 yards. 1st and 2. (The hold was at Miami’s 36) Incomplete pass to Plaxico Buress. 2nd down. Illegal block for 10 yards. 2nd and 32 now. Illegal substitution for another 5 yards. 2nd and way tooooo much at this point! Jacobs runs for 4 yards and Shockey catches a 10 yard pass. 4th and forever…Jeff Feagles punts the ball into the endzone for a touchback and it begins looking dim. Starting at their own 20, Cleo Lemon moves the Dolphins methodically down field. After a couple penalties, Unnecessary Roughness on the Giants and Intentional Grounding on the Dolphins, Miami has the ball on the Giants 21 after the 2 minute warning. Cleo Lemon hits some guy named Ginn and the extra point is good. 13-10 Giants!

1:54 left and Jay Feely attempts an onside kick which bounces out of bounds. Giants run out the clock to hold on and win!

My game thoughts. Yup, Eli Manning was horrible with only 8 of 22 for 59 yards. Some were Eli’s fault, some were the weather, and then others were the Miami defense. Miami’s game plan had Will Allen (Yes, THAT Will Allen) defending Buress and he did a FANTASTIC job on a couple of deep passes by Eli. The running game was nothing less than excellent, even with the mess they called Wembley. The DEFENSE was once again the reason for the win. They came up HUGE when they had to as well as play an entire game. SOLID, unbending, and BIG PLAY domination. GREAT JOB once more for the defense. I did see Aaron Pierce being held and turned around which was not called. It’s okay though since the next play the Giants got the ball back by Strahan’s fumble recovery.

Next up….THE COWGIRLS…I mean the Cowboys! ;-) Sorry, inside joke…We all know the Giants after a bye week. Their record is not so great. It’s time to start the chant, LET’S GO BIG BLUE! 2 weeks should help! :-)

P.S. PLease let me know if you want me to continue the complete game rundown or just what I have done before. IE; just my comments on the game itself. Thanks!

Giants vs San Fran

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

I must admit the D-FENSE has come together after all. The frustrations of a fan came out loud and strong after the first two games! Losing to Dallas when a win was well within reach REALLY boils the blood.

The Giants now have a nice winning streak going. 5 and 2 is much better than the 0 and 2 start! We must thank a Giants defense which has come together under Steve Spagnuolo.

The offense was mediocre against San Francisco. They had some problems moving the ball, except when the defense got the ball back for them via interceptions and fumbles. They scored with each take away. That is a GREAT job!

There could have been more if the backs were able to hold onto the ball. Eli Manning was locked in throwing the ball well. The backs had troubles hauling the passes in. Derek Ward, Brandon Jacobs, it did’t matter who the ball was tossed to. It didn’t hurt though since the defense just kept getting the ball back to the offense.

Lawrence Tynes missed the PAT after the first TD which is unacceptable. Tynes came back with 3 PAT’s and 2 field goals. That’s a good comback in my estimation. Antonio Pierce had 2 costly Personal Fouls, but came back with a HUGE interception which allowed the Giants to score again! Osi Umenyiora had a huge sack AND picked up the fumble to score from 75 yards out! BIG play!!

Now it’s off to London for a game against the winless Miami Dolphins. Let’s hope the Giants continue to play the way they have been and don’t have a let down. Remember several years back when an undefeated Bronco team came to Giants stadium to play a BAD Giants team? The Giants handed the Broncos their first loss. We HOPE this does not reverse!!

Wishing BIG BLUE continued best wishes on the other side of the big pond! Keep it up guys, you are finally a complete T E A M!!!!

Giants vs Atlanta

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

This my friends was a game! It began ugly when the Falcons moved the ball downfield without a problem. The Giants defense stopped them and allowed only a field goal. Not bad if you ask me.

The ensuing kickoff saw the Giants move the ball in the other direction. TOUCH DOWN!! That was excellent except for the fact that the Giants now have to kick off once more. Result? A tackle! (Got ya there) Next play was what made it look bad for the Giants. Norwood ran the ball for ever on the first play from scrimage. Touch Down, ATLANTA! At 10-7. I was worried. But. being as resiliant as they are, the Giants came through with their defense.

What happened and how did they do it? Big Blue STOPPED the Falcons from anything else! The Giants Defense regained it’s mastery. The Giants defense was able to CRUSH the Atlanta Falcon offense in such a way they were totally stifled!

San Fran is next. The 49’s could be a heavy opponent. These guys want to win. The Giants have won 4 in a row. 5 is not that easy. We will see next week!
